7 Reasons ESEE Knives Are Great

ESEE Knives like the ESEE 4 and Izula are only a few of the great tools that are available to enterprising modern outdoorsmen, but they are still some of the best in the market, hands down; and here are some of the reasons for that.

Simplicity Married to Versatility

The backbone of ESEE’s catalog is composed of models like the Candiru, Izula, and ESEE 3, 4, 5 and 6 model knives.

These are simple knives with unassuming drop point profiles and flat grinds. They are not designed for aesthetics but for performance, as is apparent to anyone that has ever handled one.

The Steel

The majority of ESEE Knives are made with 1095 steel. This is a pretty standard tool steel alloy that, while it offers basically no corrosion resistance (more on that in a minute) is very tough and very tolerant of abuse.

Also, because it is relatively soft, it is fairly easy to resharpen an ESEE knife in the field even if all you have is a pocket stone.

Protection Baked on

While the 1095 steel that’s featured in most ESEE models is dreadfully rust-prone, it is relatively easy to care for, and moreover, is protected by ESEE powder coat.

Most ESEE Knives sport a tough powder coat that is remarkably wear resistant and which insulates the steel underneath against corrosion. The only areas in which the knife is not protected are along the edge and the laser-etched logo on the blade.

Premium Options Are Available

While most ESEE Knives are made from 1095 steel, many popular models are available in super steel variants, such as the Izula and ESEE in S35VN.

Also, some ESEE Knives like the Pacaya and Sencillo are expressly available in MagnaCut, A2, and 3V, so you don’t have to just settle for basic tool steels like the standard 1095.

High-Visibility Options

The folks at ESEE spend weeks in the jungle and know what it’s like to be far off the grid. They also know that the people who carry and use the knives they develop will often do so in the field.

Therefore, not all ESEE Knives sport low-visibility color profiles like FDE, black and OD. Some are available with bright purple, red, blaze orange, or even venom green powder coats, which help prevent the accidental loss of a knife if it is placed down somewhere in the brush.

The Sheath That Comes with (Most of) Them

Most ESEE knives come with a thermoplastic sheath that’s perforated around the margin and which is issued with a clip plate.

Because of these features, these sheaths can be rigged in a wide variety of manners, including for tip-up or tip-down carry on a belt, scout carry, cross draw, pack carry and more.

And even the ones that don’t come with this sheath generally come with high-quality leather knife sheaths that offer a different quality in their own right.

The Warranty

Lastly, ESEE’s warranty is legendary in the industry because it follows the knife for life and is transferrable. They don’t care who bought the knife or where it has gone as long as it is an ESEE.

In other words, you could find an ESEE on a trail somewhere, break it, and send it back to the company for a free replacement, no questions asked.
