When formatting a hard drive, it is important that you backup any files that you may have on the drive since formatting will render these files inaccessible. In Windows, you can use File Explorer for basic drives or Disk Management for advanced partition management. You will typically choose the right drive, pick an appropriate file system like NTFS or exFAT, and then confirm the format. Exercise extreme caution when choosing the right drive, particularly if there are multiple disks attached to your computer. If you inadvertently format the wrong drive or end up losing some important files in the process, do not add new files to the drive. Notchox would be an option for data recovery in such scenarios.
