Grow A Garden 2: Is the Acorn Worth Trading?

If you have been spending any time browsing the Seed Shop lately in Grow A Garden 2, you have probably noticed the Acorn sitting there with its massive price tag. As a B-Tier Legendary seed, it definitely catches your eye. But if someone in your server is flexing an Acorn seed or offering it up in a trade, you need to pause and look at the actual math before giving away your hard-earned items.

The harsh reality is that unless you are a dedicated collector trying to complete your seed book, trading for or keeping a non-mutated Acorn is almost never worth the investment. Let's break down exactly why this seed is a bit of a trap for the average player, and when it actually makes sense to pull the trigger on a deal.

    The Reality of the Numbers

On paper, the Acorn looks like an elite item. It costs a staggering 700,000 Sheckles at the Seed Shop, and that is only if you are lucky enough to find it in stock, given its low 2.9% spawn chance. Alternatively, players can shell out up to 3,700 Robux to get their hands on it. With constraints like that, you would expect a massive payoff.

Instead, the baseline return is surprisingly weak. When you plant a normal, non-mutated Acorn, the base fruit it drops sells for a measly 180 to 200 Sheckles. For a single-harvest crop, that return on investment (ROI) is incredibly poor. It is heavily outclassed by event-tier or top-tier crops. In its base form, the Acorn is essentially a "flex" item—it looks impressive in your inventory, but it will not help you fund your next major upgrade.

    • Seed Cost: 700,000 Sheckles (2.9% Shop Stock Chance) or 3,700 Robux

    • Base Sell Value: 180 to 200 Sheckles

    • Classification: B-Tier Legendary (Single-Harvest)

Why You Should Be Careful in the Trading Hub

Because the shop value is so artificially high, some players attempt to use the Acorn as massive leverage in the trading hub. They will flash a base Acorn seed and demand highly valuable pets, top-tier gear, or genuinely rare event items like Bone Blossoms. Do not fall for the inflated storefront price; overpaying for a normal Acorn will severely set you back.

If your goal is to earn millions of Sheckles quickly, your time and resources are much better spent elsewhere. Early-game and mid-game players are far better off trading for or growing S-Tier and A-Tier crops like Bamboo, which is fantastic for efficient grinding. High-yield event crops like Bone Blossom or Candy Blossom also offer far superior financial returns without the absurd upfront risk.

Furthermore, there is a built-in shortcut that completely trivializes the seed's price tag: the Chubby Chipmunk pet. This pet drops free acorns whenever it eats fruit. If you manage to acquire or trade for the Chipmunk, you completely bypass the need to ever spend a massive amount of money at the Seed Shop or overpay in the trading hub just to get acorns.

When Is the Acorn Actually Worth Trading?

While the standard Acorn is generally a pass, there are two distinct scenarios where pressing "Accept" on a trade makes perfect sense:

    • For Completionists and Collectors: If you have already reached the end-game, equipped top-tier pets like the Corrupt Kitsune or Moon Cat, and accumulated a massive surplus of Sheckles, optimization matters less. Trading for an Acorn simply to check it off in your inventory and complete your seed book is entirely justifiable.

    • Highly Mutated Varieties: The equation changes entirely if mutations are involved. If a player is offering an Acorn with a rare Golden, Dawnbound, or Rainbow mutation, it transforms into an absolute powerhouse. A Rainbow mutation, for instance, multiplies the base value of the fruit by up to 40x. Trading away a great pet or premium gear for a heavily mutated Acorn is a fantastic long-term investment that will actually generate millions.

Keep your wits about you in the trading hub. If someone is offering a standard, non-mutated Acorn, do not let the legendary status fool you. Let them keep it, focus on your event crops or chipmunk farming instead, and save your high-value items for assets that will actually grow your wealth.
